Program Overview

Our out-of-school time (OST) and summer programs are designed to empower students to embrace
their genius, establish a sense of community, and explore learning activities that enhance their health,
well-being, and future opportunities. This is done through hands-on project-based learning,
interactive STEM experiments, and real-world problem-solving.

Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Senior Instructional Supervisor of STEM
Education & Curriculum is a newly established position for a candidate who can hit the ground
running and is eager to immediately contribute to our expanding team. This role focuses on the
design of engaging OST learning materials, training internal staff and community partners, and
integrating our initiatives into the wider Pittsburgh STEM ecosystem. We are looking for an
individual with a robust command of youth-focused technology resources who is passionate about
STEM and dedicated to launching innovative learning opportunities for our community.

exceptional mentor capable of developing both our program staff and a diverse cohort of student
interns.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the mission and core values of the Organization are put into practice.
• Design, develop, and iterate an innovative, project-based OST STEM curriculum that aligns with OST educational standards and organization goals.
• Source, test, and package required materials, kits, and resources to ensure high-quality, seamless lesson execution at program sites.
• Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships within the Pittsburgh STEM ecosystem (including local universities, tech industries, and networks like Remake Learning) to integrate real-world expertise and secure resource pipelines.
• Train program staff, community volunteers, and a dedicated cohort of high school and college interns.
• Create, facilitate, and scale continuous professional development and training programs for internal staff to elevate their STEM content knowledge and instructional techniques.
• Periodically observe live programs to evaluate student engagement, provide staff coaching, and continuously refine curriculum efficacy.
• Maintain and manage program data and systems related to curriculum outcomes and participant engagement.
• Support the Director of Program Operations with generating reporting for grants and board updates.
• Performs other duties assigned for which the employee is qualified and physically able to perform.
• Participate in fundraising events and other program events that advance the mission of the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, STEM field, child development, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in OST STEM curriculum design, instructional design, or youth program coordination.
• Proven experience training adult learners (staff/volunteers) and mentoring youth or student interns.
• Familiarity with the Pittsburgh educational, non-profit, or technology landscape is highly preferred.
• Deep comfort with OST STEM pedagogical frameworks (e.g., inquiry-based learning, engineering design process).
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal abilities to collaborate across corporate, academic, and community sectors.
• Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Comfortable communicating with K-12 students, families, and diverse populations.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended
periods while driving, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands and feet to
operate vehicle controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands
and arms to assist students in and out of the vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or
move up to 40 pounds (e.g., student backpacks or camp supplies). Specific vision abilities required
include excellent close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to
adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment (inside the van with campers) is usually
moderate to loud.
